Two railway stations study in contrast TNN 21 September 2009, 02:53am IST
LUCKNOW: The Charbagh station has now become a place of two contrasting stretches. The one that has a wide and proper entry road to the main circulating area of the station leading to first class entry. The other being the entry from the side of Lucknow Junction (NER) station. The stretch has a pot-holed road that gets waterlogged every time it rains. Besides, the numerous vendors who dot the road make it an unpleasant place for the passengers.
Agreed that Lucknow Junction is a smaller station when compared to the main station but still there is crowd of passengers round the clock. The harried passengers can be seen having a tough time walking saddled with their baggage through the poor road. Besides, rickshaw-pullers, auto drivers and vendors congest the already congested entry.
The difference between the entries to the two stations is up for everyone to see. This gets more stark in the night. While entry from the side of reservation building is well-illuminated and allows almost hassle-free movement of people and vehicles, it is difficult getting inside the station from the entry along side Lucknow Junction. When contacted, the sources assured to improve the road and make station a better place.
