NEW DELHI: Delhi Metro has decided to procure 300 air-conditioned feeder buses in its effort to provide hassle-free and comfortable ride to spectators on their way to Commonwealth Games (CWG) venues.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said it is planning to provide feeder bus connectivity to all 11 CWG venues and these buses will run from different metro stations.
"DMRC has invited bids for 300 air-conditioned feeder buses. It is also making plans to provide feeder bus connectivity to all the Games venues," Delhi Metro spokesperson Anuj Dayal said.
The DMRC, which started functioning since 2002, is already running 100 feeder buses from various metro stations including Vishwavidyala, Kirti Nagar, Welcome and Dwarka 9.
The buses are being fitted with Global Positioning System (GPS) devices and run on environment-friendly CNG engines.
Dayal also said proposals have already been made to ply buses from INA and AIIMS Metro stations to cover the venues but the exact routes for the buses will be finalized before October 2010, when the Games are scheduled.
The current operational network of the Delhi Metro spans over 74.56 km and it will increase to 190 km ahead of the Commonwealth Games.
The DMRC had submitted a detailed project report in 2005 July, connecting Aluva and Pettah, near Tripunithura. The route of the project which was decided after DMRC had conducted a feasibility study, if changed would also lead to a delay in the project, which was estimated to cost over Rs 3000 crore.
As per the current alignment proposed by the DMRC, a total of 25.33 hectares of land will be required for the project, official sources said.
Of this, nearly 15.95 hectares is held by private parties and ownership of nearly 10 hecatares was vested with the government, sources said.
The other steps that required to be taken up on an urgent basis includes formation of a special purpose vehicle for promoting the project and issuing of a notification for acquiring the project land on a fast track basis.
However, some businessmen had expressed their apprehension over the project. The business in the city, concentrated in the MG Road will be completely destroyed if the route is through Mahatma Gandhi, the Metro Rail Action Council of the Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry said and sought a change in the alignment.
Priority should have been given for the completion of unfinished over bridges and fly overs, sources in the business sector, said.
The effectiveness of the land acquisition would depend on the government completing the formalities required including according administrative sanction to set up a special office for land acquisition for the project, sources said.

Metro successfully repairs storm water barrel http://www.hindu.com/2009/07/06/stories/2009070654210400.htm
New Delhi: Delhi Metro on Sunday successfully repaired a 60-year-old storm water barrel below the Aurobindo Marg in south Delhi, enabling the stretch to be reopened for traffic within a month.
“DMRC engineers had to excavate the area for proper investigation to avoid surface settlement. The road had to be excavated five meters below the surface to reach the brick barrel which was leaking as plans of the barrel were not available with any civic agency,” a Metro spokesperson said. The inspection at the whole site around the tunnel area revealed that there were seven leakages which lead to flooding at the site and these leakages were then carefully plugged through concrete lining, he said. With this, the corridor of the Aurobindo Marg from IIT towards AIIMS has been fully opened for traffic from Sunday.

Union Budget gives Central assistance to Delhi Metro New Delhi (PTI): The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), which is implementing a major expansion in and around the national capital, will get an assistance of Rs 1,769.60 crore from the Centre this fiscal, according to the Union Budget presented today by finance minister Pranabh Mukherjee.
Of the total investment of Rs 3,247.75 crore during 2009-10, the DMRC will get from the Centre Rs 1,769.60 crore by way of direct funding to the extent of Rs 1,616 crore, grant of Rs 89.60 crore and subordinate debt for Central taxes of Rs 64.60 crore.
Ahead of the Commonwealth Games next year, the DMRC is expanding its network to satellite towns of Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurgaon with the help of the Centre and the states.
While the budget proposal for Delhi Metro last year was Rs 1,568 crore, the government revised it to Rs 3,678.20 crore after the transit system enhanced its investment plans to Rs 5,732.32 crore from Rs 3,388.86 crore.

Rs.1770.20 crore for Delhi Metro in the Union Budget is expected to meet projections for Phase II. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), which was earlier facing a shortage of funds for this phase and which required the state and Central governments to pitch in, is now expecting the work to be completed by the end of 2010.
The allocation, according to chief spokesperson Anuj Dayal, includes Rs 528 crore as equity, Rs 64.6 crore as subordinate debt, Rs 89.6 crore for the Noida and Gurgaon sections and Rs 1,088 crore as pass-through assistance in the form of a loan from the Japanese government. Last year, DMRC had been given Rs 1,568 crore in Union Budget.
"The funding of Phase II has been completed thanks to central and state government assistance and the loan from Japan. Each year the budget allocation provides for the planned annual expenditure, and if we still fall short, we resort to supplementary grants,'' said Dayal.
Phase II of Delhi Metro will cover 125 km with 12 corridors. Three have already been commissioned. By the time the current phase is completed, Delhi will have 190 km of Metro lines. The project has been funded largely by the government and loan from Japan though the airport line was being developed under the PPP model. "DMRC will be taking care of the civil side of the project while the systems are being developed by Reliance. Consequently, they will operate the line for 30 years,'' said Dayal.
Delhi Metro will also get additional funds in the form of property development activities around the Metro stations but that would account for only 5-6% of the total cost.
The initial estimated cost of Phase II escalated considerably and the urban development ministry proposed a separate transportation fund to part finance the DMRC project to the tune of close to Rs 3,000 crore. The fund would have been built on cess levied on sale of petrol and diesel, purchase of new cars and two-wheelers and on existing cars. However, with the proposal turned down by Delhi government, DMRC was collectively aided by the Centre and state to garner the additional funds.
Phase I, along with its extensions, was completed in November 2006. Under the present phase, three corridors have been combined and completion dates of some sections, like the Kirti Nagar/Inderlok-Mundka line, have been brought forward. Tendering is still on for the Anand Vihar ISBT-Vaishali and Ghaziabad lines and sources say this will hopefully be completed by the end of 2010. |

New Delhi, July 8 (IANS)The Delhi Metro is building a special steel structure for putting up a bridge at Dhaula Kuan, one of the busiest intersections in the capital that is also a VIP route, for the Airport Express Line to ensure traffic is not disrupted.
New Delhi, July 8 (IANS)The Delhi Metro is building a special steel structure for putting up a bridge at Dhaula Kuan, one of the busiest intersections in the capital that is also a VIP route, for the Airport Express Line to ensure traffic is not disrupted.
The Dhaula Kuan intersection in south Delhi has eight roads. The busy Ring Road, the National Highway 8, Ridge Road and Sardar Patel Marg intersect at Dhaula Kuan, one of the highest density traffic corridors.
Over 100,000 vehicles pass through the circuit daily, according to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation officials.
And despite the heavy volume of traffic, the construction work on the Metro line has been going on without any big traffic jam near the intersection.
And what made that possible?
'We have used innovative engineering technology by setting up temporary steel structures to construct the (Metro) bridge and ensure that traffic flow is not disrupted in the area,' Delhi Metro Rail Corporation spokesperson Anuj Dayal said.
Dayal said the construction was 'especially tricky'.
The eight roads on the circuit are usually busy with traffic and 'this is also a VIP route - from where the president, prime minister and other dignitaries travel to and from the airport pass. (The road) could not be blocked under any circumstance', Dayal told IANS.
The 542-metre-long bridge, with 15 pillars for support, will also cross a railway track and one of the pillars being built will be the tallest so far at 20 metres.
To ensure safety, nets have been put up around the bridge and crash barriers for vehicles have been installed on the road.
'Minimum road space has been used during construction, and public-address systems have also been arranged to guide drivers, and safe passage for pedestrians,' a DMRC statement said.
The construction near the Dhaula Kuan intersection is likely to be completed by October while the Airport Express link is likely to be opened to public by September next year.
The link would take commuters from the New Delhi Railway Station to the Indira Gandhi International Airport in 18 minutes, officials said.

New Delhi (PTI): Delhi Metro will touch its highest point in Dhaula Kuan on the Airport Express Line, with one of the pillars in a 542-metre stretch of road bridge reaching the height of 20 metres.
The viaduct or bridge above Dhaula Kuan -- in which an innovative technology is being used to ensure smooth traffic flow during construction -- will have 15 pillars which will support four special spans, the longest being 168 metres.
This will be the longest in India and the third-longest in the world to be built using the post-tensioned continuous casting technique and will be supported on five pillars, Delhi Metro spokesperson Anuj Dayal said.
The Metro said it is using the technology of setting up temporary steel structures to construct the 542-metre viaduct at the busy intersection in Dhaula Kuan to ensure that traffic flow is not disrupted.
The viaduct on the Airport Express Line is being built over eight roads which carry a heavy volume of traffic, including the Ring Road, National Highway-8, Ridge Road and Sardar Patel Marg intersect, Mr. Dayal said.
The viaduct will cross a railway track and one of the 15 pillars being built will be Delhi Metro's tallest so far at 20 metres, he said.
Vehicles going towards the Indira Gandhi International Airport and Gurgaon pass through this intersection because of which it was not possible to stop traffic movement even for a day or set up barricades, he said.
"So temporary steel structures are set up to support the construction of the viaduct. A total of 2,300 tonnes of steel are being used to set up these structures. This is being done only during the night so that traffic movement is not affected during the day," Mr. Dayal said.
The work at Dhaula Kuan inter-section is likely to be completed by October 2009.
The Airport Express Link connecting the New Delhi railway station to the Indira Gandhi International Airport will be 22.7 kilometres long with six stations.
While five of them (New Delhi Railway Station, Shivaji Stadium Terminus, NH 8, IGI airport, Dwarka Sector 21) will be underground, one (Dhaula Kuan) will be elevated.
Commuters will be able to reach the IGI airport in 18 minutes.

Under-construction Metro bridge collapses, five killed New Delhi (PTI): Five persons, including an engineer, were killed and 15 others injured when an under-construction over-bridge of the Delhi Metro collapsed on Sunday, in the second such incident in eight months.
The accident took place as one of the pillars of the bridge gave in when a launcher was being erected close to Lady Sriram College in Jamrudpur in Lajpat Nagar at around 5 am.
"Three persons were brought dead to the hospital. Two persons who were trapped in the debris also died. Fifteen others were injured," Delhi Metro spokesperson Anuj Dayal told reporters here.
Among the dead were four labourers and an engineer of Gammon India, the contractor for the project. The engineer has been identified as 28-year-old Anshuman while the names of the other deceased are yet to be released.
The Delhi Metro attributed the accident to a "problem in the design" of the pillar. "We were trying to rectify it.
There was a defect in the peer cap which caused the displacement," Dayal said.
Chief Minister Sheila Dik**** termed the incident as "unfortunate" and said a compensation package will be worked out in consultation with the Delhi Metro.
In a similar incident in October last year, two persons were killed and 16 others injured when a portion of an under-construction bridge of the Metro collapsed and fell on a bus on Vikas Marg in Lakshmi Nagar area in east Delhi.

Delhi Metro bridge collapse, E Sreedharan resigns Delhi Metro bridge collapse, E Sreedharan resigns
By Khabrein.Info Correspondent,
New Delhi, July 12, 2009: Delhi Metro chief E Sreedharan resigned today following a Delhi Metro bridge collapse. The incident that took place early Sunday morning killed six people including an engineer and five laborers.
E Sreedharan is a top Indian bureaucrat who has won applause from across the globe for his integrity, planning and execution of projects that he has undertaken. If Konkan rail brought applause for him, the successful and timely implementation of Delhi Metro has made him apple of everyones eyes.
E Sreedharan belongs to Karukaputhoor in Palakkad district of Kerala. He was a classmate of T. N. Seshan, the former Chief Election Commissioner of India in school.
E Sreedharan graduated as an engineer from the Government Engineering College, Kakinada. After a short tenure as a lecturer in Civil engineering at the Government Polytechnic, Kozhikode and a year at the Bombay Port Trust as an apprentice, he joined the Indian Railways in its Service of Engineers. This was through a nation-wide selection procedure and his first assignment was in the Southern Railway as a Probationary Assistant Engineer in December 1954.
In 1963, a huge tidal wave washed away parts of Pamban Bridge that connected Rameshwaram to mainland Tamil Nadu. The Railways set a target of six months for the bridge to be repaired while Sreedharan's boss, under whose jurisdiction the bridge came, reduced it to three months. Sreedharan was put in-charge of the execution and he restored the bridge in just 46 days.
The Railway minister's Award was given to him in recognition of this achievement. In 1970, as the deputy chief engineer, he was put in charge for implementation, planning and design of Calcutta metro, the first ever metro in India. Cochin Shipyard launched Rani Padmini, the first ship it built, when he was its Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). He retired from Indian Railways as Member Engineering in 1990.
Though he retired, the Government needed his services and he was appointed the CMD of Konkan Railway on contract in 1990. Under his stewardship, the company executed its mandate in seven years. The project was unique in many respects. It was the first major project in India to be undertaken on a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) basis; the organisation structure was different from that of a typical Indian Railway set-up; the project had 93 tunnels along a length of 82 km and involved tunneling through soft soil. The total project covered 760 km and had over 150 bridges. That a public sector project could be completed without significant cost and time overruns was considered an achievement by many.
He was made the managing director of Delhi Metro and by mid-2005, all the scheduled sections were completed by their target date or before and within their respective budgets. Sreedharan was given the sobriquet of Metro Man by the media. In 2005, he was awarded the Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour) by the government of France. He had announced that he would retire by the end of 2005, but his tenure has been extended by another three years to oversee the completion of the second phase of Delhi Metro. Recently he was called in Pakistan for development of the Lahore Metro plan. He was also called by the UAE govt in 2005 to Head the Dubai Metro Project, he however rejected their offer, because of his preoccupation with DMRC.
He was declared "Indian of the Year for 2007" by CNN-IBN news channel.

Metro man Sreedharan resigns after span collapse kills 5 (Lead) July 12th, 2009 - 5:52 pm ICT by IANS - New Delhi, July 12 (IANS) E. Sreedharan, known world wide as Indias Metro man, resigned as the chief of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Sunday, taking moral responsibility for the collapse of an underconstruction span that killed five people in the capital. Sreedharan, who has been the managing director of the DMRC since its inception, announced his resignation at a press conference here and expressed lot of pain and remorse over the pre-dawn accident in south Delhi. Incidentally, Sunday was Sreedharans birthday and he turned 77.
The DMRC chief announced a four-member committee to probe into what caused the accident, claiming five lives, and said the committee has been tasked with giving its report within 10 days.
I have been in charge of the Metro since beginning. I take full responsibility for the accident, and having taken the full moral responsibility I resign as the managing director of the Delhi Metro, Sreedharan told reporters.
I may not be directly connected with the accident. But I am the head of the organisation and have to take the moral responsibility, Sreedharan said.
The 77-year-old, who has come to be known as Metro Man for delivering to the capital a world-class Metro rail system, sent his resignation to Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dik**** and Governor Tejendra Khanna following the accident around 5.00 a.m. Sunday.
In one of the worst accidents involving Delhi Metro, a span under construction in a congested area of south Delhi collapsed Sunday morning, killing five people, including an engineer, and injuring 15 others.
The span that collapsed was part of an elevated section of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporations (DMRC) new route on the Central Secretariat-Badarpur section. The accident took place around 5 a.m. at the construction site at Zamrudpur near Amar Colony. A launching girder along with a portion of the pier set up on pre-fabricated pillars collapsed.
I have been working as the in charge of the Delhi Metro project for 10 years We have maintained fairly high standards of safety. The first accident was in Laxmi Nagar and was a jolt. But today is still a bigger jolt., Sreedharan said.
This is more serious, according to me, than Laxmi Nagar, he added.
This Metro section was slated to open by September 2010, a month before the Commonwealth Games next year. However, Sreedharan said that the accident would cause serious delay in the completion of the line besides inflicting a damage of Rs.6 crore (Rs.60 million).
Due to this accident, the estimated damage is Rs.6 crore (Rs.60 million) to the whole work. This accident is going to cause a serious delay. We anticipate on this section a delay of at least three months, said Sreedharan.
Sreedharan has been responsible for the construction of the Metro rail project in Delhi, which uses some of the most advanced technology in the field of civil, electrical, signalling and telecommunication engineering worldwide.
Sreedharan was earlier responsible for building the largest rail project in India after Independence by linking the west coast of India through the 760 km-long Konkan Railway line.
He has been conferred several honours, including the countrys fourth highest civilian award, the Padma Shri in 2001 and he was named the Asian Hero by the Time magazine in 2003.

Random AccessShould Sreedharan be allowed to go? Rajesh Kalra Sunday July 12, 2009
The highly feted and respected head honcho of Delhi Metro, E Sreedharan, has resigned after owning moral responsibility for an accident at a Metro construction site earlier in the day that killed six. Fully aware of the impact that Sreedharan has had on the project so far, and recognizing that some critical projects are under way to coincide with the Commonwealth Games in Delhi next year, the government has said it would not be hasty with its decision. Sreedharan belongs to a rare breed of project managers that believes in delivering, without worrying too much about the red tape and systems and procedures. It is this quality in him that makes him a nightmare for go by the rule book bureaucrats, but endears him to the politicians. While there is little doubt that Sreedharan has overseen what is undoubtedly the finest example of project management in the country, it is also a fact that in recent times, as the workload on the corporation increased, a lot more than just other procedures seem to have been bypassed. DMRC is a victim of its own success, in a way. In a country where projects, even in the private sector, are ridden with time and cost overruns, Delhi Metro has delivered ahead of time, each and every time. And every time it does so, it is accompanied by public adulation. My fear is that this adulation has given rise to some undesirables, that includes the propensity to take unnecessary risks. The deterioration in quality of work at various metro construction sites has shown an alarming rise in recent times. I had even raised this in my post on June 1 (http://blogs.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/randomaccess/entry/i-m-indian-i-love). That post was prompted by a Metro accident that I witnessed the day before. However, with the corporation racing towards its objective of linking more of Delhi and its neighbouring areas ahead of the Commonwealth Games, instead of plugging the gaps, the risk taking has only grown, it seems. As I said, Sreedharans work style can be anathema for babus, but loved by the politicians. A politician is elected for five years and he wants to show as much as possible as his accomplishments during the five years that he is elected for to better his chances of re-election. When Sreedharan casts aside set procedures and delivers, the babus hate it, but the public loves it. And the politician, who loves to claim credit for all work done, laps it up even more. However, in large infrastructure projects, compressing the time it would normally take to execute is not always possible. Attempting it once too often can compromise safety measures. Delhi Metro may have been a victim of this aspect. So what should the government do now? Sreedharan has yet again done what would be expected of anyone in his place. But can the government afford to let him go? He knows the project inside out. He has brought in systems that have ensured quality that is alien to India otherwise. And he is a man of unimpeachable integrity. It is clear that a person like him to manage projects of this magnitude is a rarity, at least in India. Given that, the government would do well to ask him to continue, but still counsel him that the race against time may be a real due to the Commonwealth Games, but it cannot be done at the cost of safety. Knowing Sreedharan, he would take this too as a challenge and deliver as only he can.

http://www.indianex press.com/ news/metro- worried-of- phaseiii- delay/486345/
New Delhi:
With just a year left for the completion of work on the ongoing Phase-II projects, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is seriously worried about its Phase-III project falling behind schedule.
Any delay in approval of the upcoming project from the government will mean higher costs for Phase-III and a period of inaction after the present project is over, say Delhi Metro officials.
In January, DMRC had submitted a request to both the Centre and the Delhi government to release funds for preparation of detailed project reports (DPRs) for Phase-III lines. But Metro officials said they are yet to hear from the government.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Economic Survey for the year 2008-09 has proposed six lines that are completely at variance with the seven corridors proposed by Delhi Metro in its masterplan.
Amid the indecision over routes, the funding for the project is also on shaky ground, DMRC officials said.
Delhi Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta told Newsline that a finance committee was formed a couple of months ago to work out the details. The committee will take at least another four months to come up with its report on funding feasibility, Mehta said.
According to Metro officials, the delay in getting a green signal from the government over the lines and funding will mean DMRC will get to begin its work on the detailed project reports at the fag end of its Phase-II project. While it will take some time to prepare DPRs and then invite tenders, Metro officials said construction machinery like launching girders and tunnel boring machines might not be easily available after a hiatus.
The DMRC at present uses machinery owned by its contractors, most of whom have international clients. With an increasing demand for metro rail construction machinery across the world, and a shortage of launching girders in the country and tunnel boring machines across all countries, officials fear that contractors might engage their machinery elsewhere unless they are soon awarded contracts for the next phase.
Once machines go out of the country, getting them back will not only take time but also increase project cost, a DMRC official said. It might take up to a year to call in the machinery after the contracts are awarded. This will delay the Phase-III project.

Metro accident site hit by new crash; four injured New Delhi (PTI): A day after six people were killed when an under-construction bridge of Delhi Metro collapsed here, at least four persons were on Monday injured in another accident at the same site during clearance of the debris.
Two cranes, lifting a launcher that was entangled in the crumbled section of a collapsed bridge, toppled in south Delhi's Jamrudpur area, the site accident, causing injuries to four persons.
The launcher also came down along with the two cranes when its wires snapped and collapsed, eyewitnesses said.
They said they saw police taking away those injured from the site soon after the mishap.
Delhi Metro spokesperson Anuj Dayal said only one crane had toppled.
Police have cordoned off the area and are trying to ascertain if there is anybody trapped in the debris, the eyewitnesses said.

Delhi Metro suffers another mishap in over 24 hours New Delhi (PTI) The prestigous Delhi Metro project on Monday suffered yet another mishap, but miraculously there were no casualties as DMRC chief E.Sreedharan withdrew his resignation which he had sent after an under-construction pier collapsed killing six persons on Sunday.
The iconic Metro man visited the site of the accident early Monday morning after persuasion by the Delhi Chief Minister, Union Urban Development Minister and the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, but shortly after he left the site the second mishap in 24 hours took place.
Six persons were injured when cranes carrying out debris clearance operation at the site of the metro accident collapsed with a 200-tonne capacity crane toppling over under the impact.
Metro authorities said the crane mishap was caused due to a mechanical fault and that heavier cranes would be used from now on.
DMRC officials and Doctors at the AIIMS trauma centre said six persons were brought to the hospital from the accident site with minor injuries.
Mumbai-based Gammon Infrastructure, the company in-charge of the construction under attack, said it will pay compensation to all the six employees who were killed on Sunday.
Metro Rail Spokesperson Anuj Dayal told reporters here that Mr. Sreedharan has withdrawn his resignation in view of the letter he received from Chief Minister Sheila Dik**** (asking him to continue as the DMRC Managing Director)".
Mr. Dayal said the Metro chief also took into consideration the persuasion of Delhi Lt Governor Tejinder Khanna and Union Urban Development Minister S. Jaipal Reddy who asked him to withdraw his resignation letter and continue in the post.
Mr. Jaipal Reddy said in Parliament, the Government was not averse to holding a judicial inquiry into the Delhi Metro accident but would await the report of an expert committee set up to go into the causes of the mishap.
He also rejected the contention that the accident had occurred due to hurry to complete projects in view of the Commonwealth Games next year.
The Delhi Government discussed the issue at its Cabinet meeting after which Ms. Dik**** said "the Cabinet discussed the entire incident and now we are waiting for the report after which appropriate action will be taken".
On being asked if the government would set up a separate probe panel, she said, "there is no need for a separate committee. DMRC is a responsible body. We don't interfere in their work. The panel constitutes of well-known experts."
Ms. Dik**** said "let them submit the report then we will see," she added.
On the DMRC chief continuing in his post, she said, "we respect his sentiments. But we also know that the Delhi Metro and the country need him. Not only he did good work for Delhi but also for the country".
Highly placed sources said the government rejected his resignation as it viewed that his continuation was necessary for successful completion of projects related to Delhi Metro ahead of the Commonwealth Games next year.
At the construction site at Jamrudpur, the slow pace of debris clearance operations affected normal life in the locality, with locals deprived of power and water supply besides witnessing problems in traffic movement.
Traffic was at a standstill in areas leading to the mishap site in Jamrudpur on Monday morning.

Delhi govt awaits probe panel report on metro mishap New Delhi (PTI): Even as E Sreedharan has been asked to continue as the head of Delhi Metro, Chief Minister Sheila Dik**** on Monday said action in the south Delhi's Jamrudpur mishap will be taken after the probe panel submits its report.
"He (Sreedharan) has agreed to continue (as Metro managing director). We had requested him to continue," Ms. Dik**** told reporters here after the Cabinet meeting.
She said the entire issue was discussed threadbare with the Cabinet colleagues and report is being awaited in the matter.
Soon after the incident in which six persons were killed and 15 injured, the Delhi Metro had constituted a four-member panel to inquire into the reason behind the collapse of the half-constructed bridge. The panel will submit its report within ten days.
"The Cabinet discussed the entire incident and now we are waiting for the report after which appropriate action will be taken," the Chief Minister said.
On being asked if the government would set up a separate probe panel, she said, "there is no need for a separate committee. DMRC is a responsible body. We don't interfere in their work. The panel constitutes of well-known experts."
"Let them submit the report then we will see," she added.
Regarding Monday's mishap at the site where at least six persons were injured during clearing operation, Ms. Dik**** said," it was a technical fault."
