Central Railway (CR) trains are being equipped with foldable stretchers. There will be two stretchers kept in the luggage compartments of each train. "The stretchers are latched but can be easily taken out in case of any emergency. They are meant for people who get injured on tracks. Fellow commuters will be able to take the victim in the train to the next station. It will save time as the victim will not have to wait for stretcher-bearers to come from the station," said CR chief public relations officer Narendra Patil.

Each stretcher will cost Rs 1,800. Apart from trespassing, many commuters get injured while travelling on the footboard or rooftops of trains.
